Nina Lee Moselle Ruffle Dress

Sunday 19th August 2018

I was inspired by so many people on Instagram making this pattern, notably Rocco Sienna and Robins Nest, If you don't follow these lovely ladies you must! I really had to get on and get mine ready for my holiday. I knew exactly which fabric I would be using I just needed to get to work. Unfortunately when I should have been sewing this last minute quick sew I was in the dealership having a fault fixed on my car so it never made it into my suitcase. I thought about making this dress all holiday and missed in the scorching heat but little did I know that the heat wave would…

Thank You Teacher

Wednesday 25th July 2018

So this year I decided I would make my Daughters Teacher a bag to say thank you. I have already made the same Teacher a Tote Bag previously that she uses everyday for School but this time I wanted to make something that she could use for chucking a couple of things in for trips out to the pub etc. She prefers darker colours so I decided on our Flamingo Foliage Cotton Canvas. Its a…

Another Ogden Cami

Saturday 30th June 2018

This pattern has quickly become a firm favourite of mine. I love everything about it. This time I chose our gorgeous Atelier Brunette Stardust Black Double Cotton Gauze. Its perfect for the hot weather we are currently having in the UK and perfect for layering in the colder months. I wanted it to be a touch roomier so I sewed it up…

True Bias Ogden Cami

Friday 11th May 2018

I had been wanting to make this pattern for some time. I have been so inspired by all the Ogden's being made by people in the Sewing Community. I have been particularly inspired by Button and Pips ever expanding collection of them. Each one beautiful in its own right. You can also find Ogden inspiration on our Hall Of Makes too. There is a particularly gorgeous one featured. When our [Couture Dreamer Nude Soft Silky Satin Border…

Chantelle's Tilly and the Buttons Marigold trousers

Friday 13th April 2018

I finally feel like Summer is approaching and cannot wait for warmer days. During this time I love to wear pastel colours to match all the beautiful blooms that are all around. I had been lusting after the See You At Six Lines Pink Viscose Rayon fabric for a while so I knew now was my chance to make something with it. It is the most glorious delicate pink fabric with subtle ecru lines. When I first touched the fabric, I was amazed by how soft and tactile it was. It is such amazing quality and looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. As a huge Tilly And The Buttons fan, I…

Sew Over It Ultimate Shift Top

Sunday 8th April 2018

The Sew Over It Ultimate Shift Dress pattern is a great pattern to use. It has easy to follow instructions and has enough variations to keep you interested. I made the Top version with the long sleeves. It's a really versatile pattern fabric wise. Most light or medium weight woven fabrics, such as cotton, linen, rayon, viscose, wool, crepe or even silk will work. I made this…

The Cat's Pyjamas - Dani's First Blog for Material Girl Laura on the Ensemble Patterns Greco Tee

Thursday 1st March 2018

I'm so excited to introduce Dani our Guest Blogger! The Cat's Pyjamas (well, Tee Shirt, really) Despite telling myself I needed to sew my stash before buying new fabric, when I saw the organic cotton Kimsa cat jersey on Material Girl Laura's Instagram feed, I couldn't resist making an order. I was so excited when Laura got in touch to thank me for my order and asked if I would like to write a blog for the website. I didn't have…
