Another Ogden Cami

Saturday 30th June 2018

This pattern has quickly become a firm favourite of mine. I love everything about it. This time I chose our gorgeous Atelier Brunette Stardust Black Double Cotton Gauze. Its perfect for the hot weather we are currently having in the UK and perfect for layering in the colder months. I wanted it to be a touch roomier so I sewed it up on a 3/8 seam instead. With it being gauze and quite a delicate fabric that can sometimes like to fray as a precautionary measure I overlocked all the edges I could once I had done all the staystitching to minimise…

True Bias Ogden Cami

Friday 11th May 2018
Laura

I had been wanting to make this pattern for some time. I have been so inspired by all the Ogden's being made by people in the Sewing Community. I have been particularly inspired by Button and Pips ever expanding collection of them. Each one beautiful in its own right. You can also find Ogden inspiration on our Hall Of Makes too. There is a particularly…

Sew Over It Doris Dress made by Adelle

Friday 20th April 2018
Adelle from www.buttonandpip.com

Hello I'm Adelle from www.buttonandpip.com. I finally met the lovely Laura, the face behind 'Material Girl Laura' after admiring her shop online. The power of Instagram, brought us together and I was so surprised to find out she only lived a few miles down the road. I spent a morning in awe and wonder, stroking all the beautiful fabrics that she has. I was flattered to be asked to write a guest blog post for Material Girl Laura. The sun has finally arrived in the UK and I am starting to think about my summer wardrobe. With my ban on buying RTW this year, I'm thinking of the gaps that I have currently in my summer wardrobe. I bought the…

Chantelle's Tilly and the Buttons Marigold trousers

Friday 13th April 2018
Chantelle

I finally feel like Summer is approaching and cannot wait for warmer days. During this time I love to wear pastel colours to match all the beautiful blooms that are all around. I had been lusting after the See You At Six Lines Pink Viscose Rayon fabric for a while so I knew now was my chance to make something with it. It is the most glorious delicate pink fabric with subtle ecru lines. When…

The Cat's Pyjamas - Dani's First Blog for Material Girl Laura on the Ensemble Patterns Greco Tee

Thursday 1st March 2018

I'm so excited to introduce Dani our Guest Blogger! The Cat's Pyjamas (well, Tee Shirt, really) Despite telling myself I needed to sew my stash before buying new fabric, when I saw the organic cotton Kimsa cat jersey on Material Girl Laura's Instagram feed, I couldn't resist making an order. I was so excited when Laura got in touch to thank me for my order and asked if I would like to write a blog for the website. I didn't have to think twice! Laura very kindly sent me some of the pink jersey (thank you!) so I decided to make two versions of the same pattern: the Ensemble patterns Greco Tee. This pattern was free to email…

My Coco Loco

Sunday 18th February 2018

I've had the vision of this Coco in my head for quite some time. I love our Atelier Brunette Twinkle and Dazzle French Terrys. Now a Coco calls for fabric with very little stretch and this fabric is stretchy but it…
