Chantelle's Tilly and the Buttons Marigold trousers

I finally feel like Summer is approaching and cannot wait for warmer days. During this time I love to wear pastel colours to match all the beautiful blooms that are all around. I had been lusting after the See You At Six Lines Pink Viscose Rayon fabric for a while so I knew now was my chance to make something with it.
It is the most glorious delicate pink fabric with subtle ecru lines. When I first touched the fabric, I was amazed by how soft and tactile it was. It is such amazing quality and looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.
As a huge Tilly And The Buttons fan, I knew I needed to choose one of her fabulous patterns. I envisaged the cutest pair of baby pink Marigold Trouserswhich would be perfect for beach days and picnics in the park. So my match made in heaven was found!
The fabric washed and ironed beautifully. As with most of my makes, I cut the fabric out using a rotary cutter and pattern weights. I find doing this is the best way to stop any unwanted movement. Before cutting the Marigold trousers out, I added 2'' to the overall length of each leg as I am 5ft 10'' but that was the only adjustment I needed to make.
The construction of the trousers was a breeze. I made them up in a couple of hours with no problems at all. There is a sew along on Tilly And The Buttons website if you do get stuck. This is the perfect pattern if you want to make your first pair of trousers as there are no complicated fastenings to contend with. I can see this pattern also being made into cropped trousers or shorts for a holiday. The fabric came together beautifully and was so easy to sew. It is a light and draped fabric but it has just enough substance for a pair of trousers.
Before I knew it, I had a pair of secret pyjamas! Because of the elasticated waist and deliciously soft fabric, they are so comfortable to wear. I am so pleased with them and want to make more in every similar fabric Laura sells and in every colour imaginable!
